Awards
Network Excellence
For outstanding co-operation and support
to members within the Fuchsia Brand network.
Sponsored by CERT & The National Food Centre
Winner:
Acton's Hotel, Kinsale
As evidenced from their involvement in
the Kinsale Chamber of Tourism, the Good Food Circle
and other initiatives, network support is second nature
to the management and staff at Actons Hotel. Many of
the initiatives undertaken to promote and develop the
Fuchsia Brand have benefited from the experience, advice
and support from Jack Walsh, Anne-Marie Cross and Paul
McBride. The hotel is committed to supporting high quality
local produce and has done much to secure prominence
for West Cork produce in the bars and restaurants in
Irelands gourmet capital.

Other Nominees:
West Cork Natural Cheese Company, Schull
A true pioneer, Bill Hogan brings a lifetimes worth
of knowledge, style and wit to the West Cork Regional
Branding Initiative. Bill has a clear understanding
of the role that the artisan has played in Irelands
burgeoning food culture and gives readily of his time
and influence to share advice and make practical suggestions
for the marketing and development of the brand.
Trident Hotel, Kinsale
Hal McElroy and Una Wren and colleagues have always
been prominent in their support for the brand and have
networked extensively to promote the initiative and
the best of local food and tourism, in local markets
and further afield.
An Garrán Cóir, Rathbarry
Aside from running award winning bed and breakfast accommodation
outside Rathbarry, Jo Calnan expends great time and
energy in promoting the Brand initiative. This is no
routine promotion however, journalists from home and
abroad as well as television crews leave An Garran Coir,
no doubt fortified and replete from the abundant servings
of local produce, with a clear and detailed knowledge
of the Fuchsia Brand.
Skibbereen Heritage Centre
A recent though welcome addition to the range of facilities
in West Cork, The Skibbereen Heritage Centre uses its
influence as an important local visitor attraction to
highlight and support tourism development locally. It
is prominent in its support for the Fuchsia Brand as
evidenced from the range of promotional material and
food products available to visitors.
