The Martin family run their vegetable
preparation plant to the highest standards. This is
reflected in the number of awards they have won for
hygiene and quality 5 awards from Bord Glas since
1997, including overall national winner. Their commercial
success is based on superior quality which is achieved
by keeping the product as natural as possible, good
hygiene is critical in preventing spoiling of vegetables
prepared without additives.

Other Nominees:
Beara Preserves, Castletownbere
Beara Preserves is one of the Supported Employment initiatives
of CoAction West Cork. In order to implement their very
comprehensive HACCP programme Beara Preserves have trained
13 of their workers who have learning disabilities in
all aspects of the production cycle from fruit preparation
to filling, labeling & packaging, personal hygiene
and also the basic concepts of H.A.C.C.P and GMP. Because
of their training focus the process is as important
as the product, record keeping and controls are impeccable.
Durrus Cheese
Durrus Cheese is one of the few remaining cheese producers
still using raw milk. The enterprise could not have
persevered this ling in the face of regulation and the
multitude of inspections without exacting hygiene standards.
Durrus Cheese has consistently achieved among the highest
standards in the annual Fuchsia audits conducted by
the National Food Centre.
Coolmore Foods, Bandon
Operating out of a state of the art bakery near Bandon,
Coolmore Foods is one of only two bakeries in Ireland
to have been approved by EFSIS. EFSIS is the only inspection
body which is approved by every European retailer using
third party approval. This has necessitated hiring a
full time food technologist but has in turn opened up
attractive market opportunities particularly in the
UK.
Carbery Natural Cheese, Ballineen
Carbery's attention to quality has been endorsed by
many awards and accreditations. In 1989, the company
was accredited with the ISO 9002 Award, the first complete
dairy plant in Ireland to achieve this honour. Since
then the company has continued to invest in research
and plant to implement Total Quality Assurance.
