An Evening with Pete McCarthy
"An Evening with Pete McCarthy", author of McCarthys
Bar and The Road to McCarthy, took place on 1st October at 8.00
pm in Dunmore House Hotel, Clonakilty.
Pete's performance proved as stimulating and entertaining as everyone
anticipated it would be. If you have read his first book you will
be aware of the particular affection he holds for West Cork, and
this was certainly portrayed at the outset of the evening when he
expressed how delighted he was to be invited to West Cork, "Without
the inspiration of West Cork, I don't think my career as an author
would have kick-started the way it has".
The evening also included a sit down buffet of local produce and
live music after the main performance. Overall the evening was a
remarkable success and one to be repeated.

A Taste of Baltimore
This year's Taste of Baltimore festival took place
on May 25th and 26th. With more food producers, more space and an
exciting schedule of events, the festival was a great success. The
large number of attendants were in no way effected by the poor weather
conditions.
This year the festival incorporated the inaugural West Cork Traditional
Sailing Yawl Festival. These working boats are part of West Corks
maritime heritage and of course relate strongly to the theme of
seafood. Boating activities included exhibitions on the boats, boat
trips and a sail making demonstration.
